March 2020...there were 5 friends sitting around a ZOOM call discussing the future of theater. In the virtual call the friends realized that there was a lack of theater being produced that focused on social issues, social issues that needed to be talked about NOW. The 5 friends (aka TGTC Board of Directors) instantly realized what they needed to do...create damn good theatre that had a purpose, that was relevant, and would lend itself to stories that needed to be told in order to create positive change in the world!!!
The Good Theatre Company (TGTC) is a 501(c)(3) that produces quality theatre that inspires, transforms, and strengthens our community for the better. Focusing on adult theater productions, for professional and non-professional actors.
In 2014, a group of Hutto citizens joined forces to promote the arts Hutto. It is with their efforts Hutto Arts Today (HAT) was created. Hutto Arts Today promoted all forms of art including but not limited to painting, poetry, storytelling, and improv. For the next two years, money was raised through small art projects, theatre camps, and community awareness in order to produce the first theatre performance for HAT, three one-act Romantic Comedies by David Ives. HAT went onto produce Your a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Adams Family, Hairspray, and The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee.
Hutto Arts Today found themselves being pulled toward live theater, specifically adult live theater. 2020 was the year of change...HAT evolved. Their mission changed to include fostering theatrical experiences for adult actors and mature audiences. Hutto Arts Today rebranded their non-profit organization to The Good Theatre Co.
HAT's grass-roots beginnings paved the way for The Good Theatre Co. and for that TGTC is forever thankful!
TGTC ❤️ HAT
